The Arts League of Lowell is currently showing a great photography exhibition called “Exposed” at their gallery on Market Street. WAS artists Jack Holmes and Kate Ternullo have pieces in this show. Check it out on Friday and Saturday 12-6, and Sunday 12-4.


Centro on Market Street in Lowell is currently featuring Don Ouelette‘s show called “Windswept”. Check out his great paintings while having a drink or a meal!

WAS This Weekend – June 7-9

There’s so much WAS art to see in the wild this weekend! You will find WAS artists at local Lowell events, Boston-area events, and events in MetroWest, the Berkshires, and as far out as Maryland!

Be sure to check out the Acre Festival from 11AM to 4PM on Saturday at the North Common Amphitheater off of Fletcher Street in Lowell! This free event includes food, entertainment, and fun for the kids. This event is put together by Western Avenue Studios and The Acre Coalition to Improve our Neighborhood.

Acre Festival this Saturday!

Join us at the North Common Amphitheater (Fr. John Sarantos Way off of Fletcher Street) in Lowell this Saturday from 11AM to 4PM for the 2nd annual Acre Festival! This is a free event and all ages are welcome.

The Acre, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city which has been home to thousands of immigrants, is an area rich in diversity and history. The Acre Coalition to Improve our Neighborhood and Western Avenue Studios are working together to celebrate all that the Acre has to offer on Saturday June 8th during the 2nd annual Acre Festival.

The Festival offers a unique blend of performance, foodways and informational offerings from more than 25 individuals and organizations. The City of Lowell Parks and Recreation Department will be setting up a supervised play area for children. The City of Lowell Fire Department will bring the fire safety ‘Smoke House’ and a fire engine for children to explore. Trinity Ambulance will be bringing an ambulance so that children can see what is inside. The Lowell Police Department will have an officer to talk with the children. Peter Zimmerman will be showing off his juggling talents. World Renowned Poet Augustus Clayton will be doing a special dedication for the event. The members of Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church and St. Patrick’s church will be running food concessions as will Cote’s Market and Charlie’s Pub and CMAA.

The Festival is supported in part by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council, a local agency which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. As well as by generous monetary and in kind donations from The Coalition for a Better Acre, The Club Passe Temps, The Lowell Alliance for Families and Neighborhoods, The Western Avenue Studios Artist Association, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union and the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
