LOWELL OPEN STUDIOS & ARTWEEK BOSTON!!
Lowell Open Studios is our yearly Citywide Open Studios! The city is ALIVE with Art! Galleries & Studios throughout Lowell will be open for your perusal including our ever fabulous Western Avenue Studios with HUNDREDS of artists all in one place! This is a great time to begin your Holiday Shopping! Lowell Open Studios takes place Saturday the 4th & Sunday the 5th from 11am through 5pm
Maybe the most exciting part of the weekend is that Simple Pleasures Cupcake truck will be parked right in Western Ave’s main lot so you can feed your sweet tooth as well as your yearning for Art!!
Lowell is participating in ArtWeek Boston again & you’ll see some really special events that you wouldn’t otherwise! Throughout both days, many of the artists have special demos & events planned in their studios!
Check out Bruce Wood of the Glass Ingot in Studio 427 for “Thinking Outside the Recycle Bin” An interactive approach to increasing creative awareness. Learn to combine recycled objects into imaginary creatures, improbable vehicles & whimsical steampunk adornment as Bruce shares his vision, techniques & unique perspective on the creative process. Recommended for ages 15 and above & takes place October 4th 4:30-5:30 p.m
After Open Studios we have a whole night of activities planned for you! Stick around for the Opening of the new Loading Dock Gallery Group Show “Unified Dissonance: The Art of Coming Together” at 5:30 in the 2nd Floor Loading Dock!
Right after the Opening, mosey on down to the Onyx Room on the First Floor at Western Ave for the Wearable Art Extravaganza! from the mild to the wild. Artists from all media will be creating and showcasing wearable art. Attendees will see everything from traditional clothing and earrings, to drag queens in “wearable” art. This event will raise money, through your generous donations, for children impacted by HIV/AIDS. The Miracle Providers Northeast (MPs) and the Loading Dock Gallery are partnering to raise money for the MPs annual holiday gift event. Each year the MPs provide a wish list of gifts for approximately 400 children, through various agencies, whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS. The event will begin at 6:30 pm following open studios and the artist reception in the Loading Dock Gallery. Cash bar and refreshments will be available. Swing by the Grand Opening of Voltaire Design Studios in 218! The lovely Kelly creates everything from clothing to jewelry and accessories for the goth, steampunk and renaissance community. Seen at the Steampunk World’s Fair and other local themes events, now as a brick and mortar store. She’ll also be taking orders for Halloween costumes, Cosplay and King Richard’s Faire costumes for children and adults.

The “Making Art in the Park” exhibit at the Whistler House Museum features several Western Ave Artists including Denise Rainis, Jack Holmes & Art Ferrier! This show runs through November 8th with a Reception on October 4, 2-4 PM
Robert Crooker will have a beautiful piece in the Tewksbury Community of Artists’ 21st Annual Art Show October 3 and 4, 2014 at Wynn Middle School, 1 Griffin Way, Tewksbury Saturday the 4th hours 10 am to 3 pm
Priscilla Levesque is participating in a group show, “Seeing the Light-Plein Air Landscapes from Painters on Cape Cod” at Cataumet Arts Center, 76 Scraggy Neck Rd., Cataumet MA. The show is on view through October 13th with an Artist Reception this Sunday September 21st from 3-5pm
Rebecca Alden Designs continues to have her work featured at the Carlisle Artisan Gallery! You can catch her beautiful work on display throughout the month of October.
Congratulations to WAS artists Cheryl Polcaro, Bethany Peck, Tom Veirs, and Janet Wolahan for their acceptance into the 15th Annual Francis N. Roddy Open Competition, a prestigious competition held by the Concord Art Association. Check out the 100 pieces that were chosen for this exhibition now through October 17.

See Regina McGearty’s sparkling jewelry at the Ayer Lofts Gallery! Another Season, Another Reason features work from The Ayer Lofts Gallery Committee and runs through mid October. The gallery is open on weekends – check their website for hours.
