Welcome to the Jewelry, Fiber and Fashion Walking Tour.

Wearable art is what we are talking about here. It covers everything from scarves, to sculpture to mixed media to engagement rings.  The works here give voice to your own sense of style and creativity that you find from venturing into the studios of these creators.

Take the Tour.

The Studios cover five floors, but please note that the first floor is not accessible by the elevator – use the stairs for first floor access. At this time the Lofts are not open to the public except for special events. We encourage you to view the loft artist profiles and make a private appointment to see their work. Only artists who have a profile on our website are listed on the tour but there are many more so please explore.

I create one of a kind and limited production felted art to wear. Through experimentation and noting the variable shrink rates for the combination of wool and various textiles, I can create garments that are beautiful and well fitted. Multiple felting techniques are used in the making of the garments, these include: wet, seamless, needle felting, variable shrink, 3-D resists and laminate methods. In the dye work the techniques that are employed are immersion, painting, Shibori and clamp resist printing.

The very first time I touched silk with a brush full of dye, I was exhilarated.  The color became intense and deep, and the silk did its thing, making the dye appear to glitter, adding a subtle dimensionality.  I was transfixed.
