Artist Name: Barb Cone

Gentrification is a triptych of 3 panels with gesso, oil stick and encaustic medium. Constellation is part of a larger wall installation of individual pieces (17) made by coating cardboard boxes with gesso, sanding them to get a weathered effect, punching holes and threading through varying colors and dimensions of twine. The twine trails along the wall below the pieces, adding to the sculptural effect. Sn No. 1 is made of cardboard, gesso, twine and melted tin. The tin is from a fire in a tin can factory. The three oil stick drawings (Vessel series) were shown with the other pieces. The One That Got Away is a 4-piece wall sculpture made from crushed cardboard boxes, gesso and oil stick. Rust No. 16 is part of a large scale installation of similar pieces and also pieces in encaustic and sanded gesso. They were made by running over cardboard boxes with my car and using the crushed pieces to make individual pieces of wall art and sculpture. The sculpture and small wall piece are made from crushed cardboard boxes coated with a rusting solution to appear as though they are rusted metal. All of these pieces were in my solo show, C*artefacts at Canvas Fine Arts Gallery, SOWA, Boston in November, 2019.
