SUMMARY:Portfolio Development: Observations and Foundations
DESCRIPTION:Portfolio Development is for students who are are serious about making art and those who plan to build visual portfolios for private school admission or college level admission. Serious students of any age can build a portfolio\, as it is a body of work that shows an understanding of drawing\, painting\, composition\, and concept. \nThis program is open to ALL STUDENTS  who love to create and those who seek more guidance to grow artistically\, regardless of portfolio requirements.  \n(ages 13 and up) \n  \n  \nSaturday Mornings 10AM-1PM: \nSeptember: 9/25 \nOctober: 10/2\, 10/09\, 10/16\, 10/30 \nNovember: 11/6\, 11/13\, 11/20 \nDecember: 12/04\, 12/11\, 12/18 \nJanuary: 1/08 \nInstructor: Courtney Wilson \n  \nSketchbook required\, a basic art kit will be availble for purchase at the studio for a cost $25. Materials can be purchased outside of studio as well; kit includes a sketchbook\, paint saver container\, basic drawing supplies and paintbrushes.  \n  \nDue to new health and safety concerns\, we ask that students come to class with a mask. We will provide hand sanitizer and wipe down working areas with disinfectant before and after class. Shields and limited class sizes will also be implemented during this time. We ask that if your child or a household family member does not feel well to be open and communicate with us about your child missing class as a precautionary measure. Restaurant rules apply for snacks and drinks… students will be allowed to eat and drink at their work space but must wear masks when traveling through the studio. \n  \nWe reserve the right to cancel any classes that do not fill.

DESCRIPTION:This January\, Loading Dock Gallery presents Hello there!  4th Annual Greater Lowell Regional Art Show. Working together\, students from Chelmsford High School\, Groton-Dunstable Regional High School\, Innovation Academy Charter School\, and Tyngsborough High School present art designed to spark conversation. Hello there! celebrates young artists’ voices\, with work that exemplifies the energy and courage of a rising generation. \nThroughout the pandemic\, high school students were isolated. Precaution disconnected students from their community. Hello there! reintroduces young artists to each other and the world. Created with a focus on hands-on education and collaboration\, this show explores the hard-learned truth that contact is a basic human need. We must return to socializing\, safely\, now. Hello there! invites us to engage\, compare\, communicate. Their art addresses what we feel and how we think\, as well as the challenges facing our world. \nHello There! runs from January 5-30\, 2022 at the Loading Dock Gallery. Join the artists for a reception Saturday\, January 8 from 3-5pm\, during Western Avenue Studios Open Studios\, January 8\, which runs noon-5pm. \nLoading Dock Gallery is located at 122 Western Avenue\, Lowell\, MA. It opens Wednesday through Saturday\, noon to 5:30pm\, and Sunday noon to 4pm.
