DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first Open Studios of the spring season\, April Open Studios. We will be celebrating Earth Day and National Poetry Month at The Creative Soul of Lowell from noon until 5 pm. We have all sorts of things in the works that reflect on Mother Nature and Language\, so tuned as we announce this month’s special activities and pop-ups. Grab a friend and explore our historic mill building\, where art is made. \nLoading Dock Gallery kicks off their April art show titled “Write Me a Letter: The Alphabet” with a reception from 4-6 pm. This show celebrates work that is inspired by letters we routinely use to communicate.. As part of the reception\, you get the unique experience of speaking firsthand to some of the artists who created artwork featured in this show. \nAs part of this month’s Loading Dock Arts‘ Western Avenue Inspires Lecture Series\, our guest speaker is Gary Gissler. A New York City artist and practicing psychoanalyst. Gary explores both the authority and fragility of language. The lecture starts at 11 am. \nOur resident brewers at Navigation Brewing Co. will be open at 2pm\, serving up their craft beers. Come down to see what rotational crafted brews they have to offer this week\, as they release their signature spring beers. Brew’d Awakening Coffeehaus will be on hand with a coffee shop pop-up. This month’s food truck is Empanada Dada\, serving up their delicious assortment of empanadas. It’s all about the dada\, as they say. \nWestern Avenue is a complex of four buildings of artist studios and loft residences that number over 330 artists. We think that makes us the second-largest artist community in the U.S. – right here in Lowell MA!! We love having the public visit us and bring some creative exploration to their day. \nThis is a free event AND we have plenty of free parking.
