DESCRIPTION:ATTENTION ALL STAFF: \nStop your Tik Tok/Instagram doom scrolling and report for this month’s MANDATORY COMPANY MEETING\, in which we will discuss:\ngrotesque narrative artworks inspired by 3 years of mostly working from home- virtual meetings\, toxic politics\, impending doom\, protests\, illness (both viral and chronic genetic issues)\, collapsing ethics and morality\, and grasping for love and hope amidst chaos. \nCompany Meeting combines paintings and drawings created during the great upheaval of the 2020s. Grotesque\, cartoonish figures twist\, explode\, and bend backwards into psychedelic eruptions of color\, pattern\, and detail. Sandagata’s works critique and question\, melding elements of pop culture\, 80s comics\, countercultural movements\, punk\, heavy metal\, chronic illness\, politics and contemporary art into a visual riot. \nRobb Sandagata was born in New Haven\, CT and has lived in New York\, Arizona\, and Massachusetts. Significant influences\, in roughly chronological order\, include: cartoons\, comic books\, Dungeons & Dragons\, “Alternative” music\, punk rock\, theater\, competitive debate\, mid-90s Hardcore\, and band t-shirts. He lives and works in Lowell\, Massachusetts.

DESCRIPTION:Loading Dock Gallery presents Youthful Visions: 6th Annual Greater Lowell Regional Art Show\, a showcase of art by local high school seniors. Participating are students from Innovation Academy Charter School\, Lunenburg High School\, Groton Dunstable High School\, Lowell High School\, Tyngsboro High School\, Billerica High School\, and Pelham High School. \nIn Youthful Visions\, students present their generational perspective on our times. They ask\, “What am I going to do?” and “What do I see in the world?” Their artworks are mixed media\, based on the students’ interpretation of the theme and their personal experience and style. Youthful Visions uplifts local young artists. For many it is a first opportunity to show work in a public gallery. \nThis January\, share the rising generation’s Youthful Visions of our world. \nYouthful Visions runs January 4-29 at Loading Dock Gallery\, 122 Western Avenue\, Lowell\, MA\, open noon-5:30pm\, Wednesday-Saturday\, and noon-4pm Sundays. Reception 3-5pm\, Saturday January 7\, part of Western Avenue’s monthly open house.
