SUMMARY:Working In The Grace Of Solitude – Mini Gallery Show
DESCRIPTION:“My work\, over the past two years\, has in-deed been prepared and responds to having to work in SOLITUDE\, first\, of course due to the various public health mandates but also due to the normal open studio events having been suspended in the Lofts. During this period\, I have produced three seres\, these are THE GRACE OF SOLITUDE\, DESSPOIR\, and INTERRUPTION. Images from THE GRACE OF SOLITUDE series were recently published in The Circle Magazine (Lyon\, France) but no others have been shown locally in any venue. The title – THE GRACE OF SOLITUDE (not isolation) proposes that I have found working in solitude can be an experience of positive thinking and not necessarily an experience of despair. However\, the DESSPOIR and INTERRUPTION SERIES respond to a less positive period. The proposed show would use the space available on the 4th Floor Min-gallery to present a sample of images from all three series.” – Garry Harley \n  \nCovid-19 Guidelines:\n– Face coverings/masks are not required but recommended since some studios and businesses may require them for admission into their space.\n– Guests who are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms or have been instructed to quarantine by a medical professional should not attend.\n– We will have hand sanitation stations throughout the building.\n\nThere is no charge for this event. This event is dog-friendly. We just ask that you keep your pup on a leash.

SUMMARY:Celebrating Diversity - Lowell Has It!
DESCRIPTION:The many cultural traditions that are part of the rich diversity of the Greater Lowell Area will be available for visitors to enjoy either as workshop presenters\, musicians\, dancers or food vendors.  Many of the workshops are “Make and Take” and on a Drop-In basis.  Other workshops\, due to limited space require pre-registration.  All workshops are FREE. \nThe centerpiece of this event is the month-long art exhibit “Who We Are: A Celebration of Diversity” being held in the expansive Loading Dock Gallery located at the Western Avenue Community.  The Back Door Gallery is featuring an exhibit by Erick Maldonado\, “COALO EN LAWRENCE.”  In addition to the activities of the afternoon\, we are hosting exhibits in three of the min-galleries at Western Avenue. \nThe 4th Floor Gallery has “What is The Acre” an exhibit from the archives of the Center for Lowell History (UML Libraries)\, the Pollard Memorial Library\, and the Lowell Historical Society.  The exhibit in the 3rd Floor Gallery is “Finding Home” a photo essay by photographer Scot Langdon.  Scot follows the process of the resettlement of an Afghan Family to Lowell.  “City of Immigrants” is the exhibit in the 1st Floor Gallery; a collaboration of three photographers\, Jim Higgins\, Wendy James and Tory Wesnofske. \nThere is on-site free parking and free overflow parking at the UML staff parking lot on Wilder Street.  The COOL shuttle bus will run between the Wilder Street lot and the Shuttle Stop at Western Ave Studios from 10:45am–6:00pm.
