Thank you for your interest in Western Avenue!
We are a place where artists make their work while interacting, learning, and growing together into a creative community that is greater than any individual studio or artist.
THIS IS THE WORKSPACE STUDIO APPLICATION: if you are applying for a residential loft please click here.
The Studios at Western Avenue are work-only spaces for artists at all stages of their careers or practice. The individual studios are intended to be primarily used for artistic production and not as resale or retail shops, or solely as display galleries. Applicants’ work must be able to be created in a studio at Western Avenue.
We understand that artists who are just starting out or who are coming back to making art after a long break may not have an existing artistic resume or portfolio. If this is the case, please just follow the application step-by-step and enter what you have. A page telling the story of your artistic life can take the place of an artist resume.
About this Application
Our application process is designed to understand your creative foundation, completed work, artistic concept, technical competency, and community-mindedness. The jury, through a thoughtful review of written statements, artistic activity in your resume, and examples of your work, aims to select individuals who will not only benefit from the community but also enrich it.
The review committee meets after four applications are collected or every three months, whichever comes first. In the event that all studios or lofts are filled, accepted applicants will be placed on a wait list. The review committee’s decisions are final, but applicants who are not accepted are invited to apply again in six months’ time. Applicants must be 21 at the time of application.
