Celebrate Spring With Art!

The Reopening Of The Lofts

Warmer days here, and the weather isn’t the only thing heating up.  Last month our building was filled with so much energy – the likes we haven’t seen in over two years – it gave us warm fuzzies and a feeling that everything will be okay. We saw a lot of new faces and tons of old familiar faces. You made us happy.

Speaking of familiar things. This month’s Open Studios marks the return of our residential Lofts building being open to the public. Our loft artists are excited to share with you what they have been working on for the past couple of years and welcome you into their works spaces and their homes. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, as next week will be featuring some of our Loft artists who will be opening their doors. While masks/face coverings are not required for our event, we ask that you bring one just in case an artist requires it to enter their home.

So join us on April 2nd for our April Open Art Studios, from noon until 5 pm.

Mini Galleries Last Chance & A New Loading Dock Gallery Show

This month we have two new exciting Mini Gallery shows. Both shows feature work from artists you don’t always get a chance to experience, they call our Lofts building their home and are recent additions to our creative community. John Haiduk will be hosting his show Abstract Expression: Order & Chaos in our 1st Floor Mini Gallery, near studio 141. John’s show is an intuitive deep dive into the inner workings of the subconscious, with order and chaos being central themes in each piece. John will also be hosting a live paint demo at the show, starting at 3 pm. Sylv Litz will be hosting her Mini Gallery show titled Chrysalis in our 5th Floor Mini Gallery, near studio 599. Sylv’s show features a series of up-cycled works exploring evolution and growth.

Animal Love, Loading Dock Gallery’s April show, celebrates animals familiar and wild: our guides, teachers, and friends sharing this world. Studios artist Laurie Simko is joined by other regional artist to present collage in moods playful, serious, and serene as well as paintings of animals as our companions and other works in mosaic and sculputre. Meet the artists from 3-5pm on April 2nd during our April Open Studios event.

Empanadas & Donuts, A Perfect Match!

This month we are excited to welcome a local favorite and one of the longest-running food trucks at Western Avenue, The Empanada Dada food truck. Lowell Native Bob Cuesta brings with him his Cuban-inspired empanadas that are tasty and the perfect food on the go for exploring art. We’re a firm believer in community, and this month we have a special treat joining us. Lowell-based newcomer Planted Donuts will be joining us for the first time, offering a wide variety of tasty vegan donuts that will satisfy even the mightiest of sweet tooths.

Have you heard? Tiny Arms Coffee was voted as one of the best coffee shops in Massachusetts! They just finished celebrating their first anniversary, and we couldn’t be any prouder. Start your Open Studios day with one of their signature drinks. The coffee shop will be open from 9 am until 4 pm.

Navigation Brewing Company celebrates the return of warmer days with the return of their beer patio. Enjoy the late day, open air sunshine while you sip on a handcrafted beer made right here at Western Avenue. The return of the patio also means the return of live music, with Harry Borsh providing the tunes on April 2nd. The brewery will be open from 4 pm until 10 pm.
