We’re back!

Something old, something new.

July marks the first full month of summer and it also marks new beginnings for us. This July kicks off our return to indoor events. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year and a half since we have hosted an indoor event. While we have been enjoying finding creatives ways to bring you art with our virtual events and our Outdoor Art Markets, we’re looking forward to returning inside. We miss the buzz in the building of your curious minds taking in all the art.

July is also the start of our new lease year. That means some new faces to the Western Avenue community, along with some old faces in new spaces. You may notice your favorite studios have new numbers. Our plan this summer is to increase signage and wayfinding throughout the Studios buildings, in order to make navigation much easier for you.

Postcards From The Edge

“It’s been a crazy year, with unexpected gifts and immeasurable trauma,” says Linda Dunn. “Anxiety and hope wrestle now at the edge o our release from quarantine. We’re on edge.”
Loading Dock Gallery’s new show, Postcards From the Edge, reflects upon this difficult time we have all lived through and celebrates the better times that lie ahead. This show incorporates work inspired by travel, missing someone while you’ve been apart, distance, the space between people, imagined travel of somewhere you’ve never been, somewhere out of this world. . . .

Like postcards, the pieces in this show are intended as messages and to hold a moment of resonance with the viewer. Many of the works in this show are standard postcard size, while others are varying sizes of two dimensional and three dimensional work. Ceramics, jewelry, wearable art, and more are also featured.

Eggrolls, fresh coffee, and handcrafted beers!

Part of the experience is art you can taste. Get the day started with Tiny Arms Coffee, a new coffee shop and roaster directly across from the Loading Dock Gallery. Tiny Arms has some new special blends of coffee that will have you in the clouds. Tiny Arms will be open from 9 am until 4:30 pm.

This month we have Lowell favorite Eggroll Cafe joining us as the food truck. Bringing with them their signature eggrolls, savory Japanese curry fries, and refreshing bubble teas!

End your day with a cold brew from Navigation Brewing Company, the brewery will be open from 4 pm until 10 pm. Freshly tapped craft beers perfect for beating the summer heat and cans to go. The brewery will also have a different food vendor for the evening, Stefy’s Greek Food.
