Learning To Adapt
Last month we held our very first virtual event. Shifting our traditionally in-person event to being completely online presented quite the challenge and in many ways, it is still a learning process of what works and what doesn’t work. Our goal for Virtual Open Art Studios is to bring you the experience of our monthly in-person Open Studios event to the comfort of your home, and create a safe space for you to support local artists. This month we are putting a focus on videos and demos to make your virtual experience even better.
Artists Talks: A New Way To Tell Their Story
This month we premiere a new initiative – artists talks featuring artists from our community. This will be a video series giving you an in-depth look at the creators behind the art here at Western Avenue. From their art process, to what motivates and inspires them to create art – these talks give you the opportunity to really get to know and appreciate the artist and their work.
We’re kicking things off with painter and MassArt alumni Diana Zipeto. Diana is well known for her Liberty Series, which investigates issues of freedom and equality through this unique painting perspective of the Statue of Liberty. This artist talk promises to be both engaging and insightful.
Bacon & Brews To-Go
Looking for a way to support our local brewers at Navigation Brewing Company? You can pick up cans and growlers of their handcrafted brews in-person during our Virtual Open Studios (12-4 pm) and other hours listed on their website. Handcrafted beers brewed right here at Western Avenue. You can find out ahead of time what will be available in cans and as growlers, by checking out their Facebook page at the following link.
