About This Artist

Artist Name: Becky Kisabeth Gibbs

Becky Kisabeth Gibbs is a noted Boston-based painter whose work focuses on the natural world. She is best known for beautiful realistic seascapes and ocean field paintings, in which the compositions appear to extend beyond the edges of the picture frame and contain no reference to humans or scale. Gibbs spends many hours near the sea, photographing it at myriad times and conditions. Back in the studio, these images become her source material.

Gibbs’s paintings and works on paper are in private and corporate collections in America, Canada and South America. Gibbs is also available for commissions. Her most recent commission, a large painting of the ocean, was installed in the lobby of a JGB Smith building in Crystal City, VA.

Gibbs has exhibited her work extensively in New England, and served on the Board of Directors of Galatea Fine Art, a cooperative gallery in Boston, MA.

Born in Sandusky, OH, Gibbs received her BFA from Bowling Green State University and studied further at The DeCordova Museum School. She currently works and lives west of Boston. Always drawn to water, she is inspired by the Atlantic Ocean and shore.
