About This Artist

Artist Name: Dori A. Robinson

Mission-driven educator, director, playwright, advocate. Seek and develops projects that explore social consciousness, personal heritage, and the difference one individual has on their community.

With a Master’s degree from New York University’s Educational Theatre program, Dori has been a director and experiential educator for years.  As an avid teaching artist, she shares her love of Shakespeare, new play development, physical theatre, political theatre, and gender in performance.

Art enables an experience that can inspire, heal, motivate, and fashion a common vocabulary between people despite social and geographic boundaries. I want to generate these kinds of exchanges by creating innovative stories and challenging questions. Theatre and education elicit my strongest skills: leadership, textual analysis, my concern with current events (and their past counterparts), and most of all, my ability to collaborate with an ensemble to generate visceral and immediate work. Amalgamating these skills enables me to fulfill my potential as an artist, an activist, and a person.

Let’s ask challenging questions and create authentic and engaging stories together!
