About This Artist

Artist Name: Ellen Grandpre

I paint from life using a direct approach, often “en plein air”.  I seek to respond to life, observing and interpreting the natural world through relationships of color, value, shapes and brushstrokes.  I am inspired by the visual world around me:  the effect of light, color relationships, relationships of shapes.  Landscape, the human form and portraiture are the specific types of imagery that inspire me.

I was born in western Massachusetts and have been living in eastern Mass since 1988.  I love to paint outdoors and am also working within a studio environment to further develop landscape and figurative paintings.
