The artists of Western Avenue have been working really hard – for you!
Saturday November 2nd from noon until 5pm and beyond.
On the first Saturday of every month, Western Avenue Studios & Western Avenue Lofts artists open their doors to the public. Come take a peek inside their work spaces and see for yourself why Western Avenue is the creative soul of Lowell.
November is for those planners out there. It takes time to look through all the amazing art studios here and figure out what speaks to the loved ones on your gift giving list. Plus, WA is the BEST place to find the BEST Yankee swap gift that will be much coveted and keep you on the invite list.
And for the artists out there please visit the Lofts to check out Emily Sandagata’s artwork which brings new life into “forgotten and abandoned objects” while exploring the spiritual world (cycles of life and death, growth and decay), and reacting to challenges of contemporary life. Loft 215.
Open Studios comes with Workshops and a Gallery Reception
What else happens on an OS Saturday? Our artists are showcasing their work. In A202 Prunella’s Workshop will be working on chasing and repousse copper and Angela Ales will be in Studio A413 painting – both starting at noon. On the first floor Kristen Higgins in 121 will be hosting half hour portrait sessions at $50 – on a walk in basis starting a noon. Ten minutes of shooting and twenty minutes of editing. Ron Weed in 106 will be airbrushing on t-shirts starting at 2:30pm. Arlette Laan will host a slideshow presentation in her studio at 6pm on her White Mountains winter 48 hikes along with tips on winter hiking and her hiking dollies for purchase.
UPDATE: Dandelion District will not be here on Saturday due to illness.
Brew’d Awakening will also be on the A Mill dock with coffee tea and goodies.
The Loading Dock Gallery hosts its’ monthly reception for the gallery’s new show which is an invitational hosted by artist Tracy Levesque – Orbs: Spheres of Unity – from 4-6pm. This is a must see exhibit showcasing the fine art and fine craft of glass, fiber, 2D and metal artists. Come delight in this artistic celebration of the orb and how it’s symbolic nature of unity, vision, inclusivity and balance may only scratch the surface of our imaginations!
Sustenance – for stomach and soul.
Navigation Brewing will open at 2pm and every one’s favorite food truck Phoenix Rising Pizza will be ready for action from noon – 8pm along with Honest Scoop Ice Cream.
Western Avenue is a complex of four buildings of artist studios and loft residences that number over 330 artists. We think that makes us the second largest artist community in the U.S. – right here in Lowell MA!!
