Artist Name: Suchitra Mumford

I have been a hobby potter for a little over 40 years. Ceramics was always something I did ‘on the side’ outside of jobs. My work is functional and meant to be used on a daily basis. I think about form, function and whether I would enjoy eating from a dish. I gravitate towards bright colors and patterns which may be a reflection on my life; busy and optimistic.
In 2012 I founded Indigo Fire Studio in Belmont, MA. The studio was one of the first of its kind in the area and quickly became a community of potters and clay enthusiasts. In 2018 I sold the business to the present owner. Currently, I am the Director of ArtSpace Inc. in Maynard.
My studio at Western Ave is the first time I have had my own space to focus on my direction as an artist. I am open during most Open Studios and sell my work there and online. Private one-on-one pottery lessons are available upon request. Email: [email protected]
