ABOUT

Western Avenue, in Lowell Massachusetts, is home to the largest artists community on the eastern seaboard of the U.S. The 5 acre complex contains 3 brick mill buildings hosting 250 work only studios, 50 live/work lofts, many teaching artists, The Loading Dock Gallery – a cooperative artist run gallery, The Onyx Room Performance Space, Whitsett Guitar Works, and Navigation Brewing Company. We have many artists with gallery representation, fine art, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, glass artists, ceramic artists, book binder, print makers, wood workers, fabric artists, mixed media artists, and makers of all kinds of things.

Please visit us – online and in person – and get to know our artists. We are sure there will be more than a few whose art speaks to you. The artists share their creativity year round during First Saturday Open Studios events.  It is an intimate and personal way to see artists in their workspace, learn about their inspiration, tools, and process, and be inspired by their passion. We guarantee one visit won’t be enough to see all there is to see – so plan on coming back.
